Jelene® plasticized ointment

NB: Jelene® replaces Letco's Plasticized Ointment, now discontinued. Jelene® can be used in place of Letco's Plasticized Ointment in existing formulations, with no further adjustments required.  

Jelene® base is a soft, elegant, anhydrous ointment vehicle presenting oleaginous and emollient properties. It is a blend of molten polyethylene and mineral oil shock-cooled to form a plasticised base. It has a consistency similar to petrolatum.

Jelene® base is commonly used for topical preparations or in place of petrolatum for preparations intended for mucosal application. 

With a water activity of less than 0.6 (aw < 0.6), this base is classified as anhydrous. Compounders can now assign default expiry dates of 180 days as per current APF guidelines!
